Christen Voyles was named all-tournament as the Solano College women’s basketball team took fourth place in the Mike Gervasoni Memorial Classic at De Anza College in Cupertino Dec. 28-30.
The Falcons opened with a 75-69 win over Merced College. Voyles scored nine points and grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds. LaNia Adams provided a huge spark off the bench, scoring 18 points.
Alex Bader (12 points), Cassandra Jones (11) and Miranda Holman (10) all contributed in the victory.
Voyles netted 25 points on 8 of 14 shooting and added five rebounds in the semifinals, but Solano fell 56-46 to Sacramento City College. Cassandra Jones added 12 points for the Falcons.
In the third place game, Solano fell to the host team, De Anza, 52-40 as the Falcons’ offense sputtered.
Miranda Holman had 19 points and six rebounds, but Solano shot 33 percent from the field and committed 22 turnovers.
Next Up: Solano opens Bay Valley Conference play against Los Medanos on Jan. 5 in Pittsburg at 7:30 p.m.
