Cassandra Jones didn’t waste much time in establishing herself as one of the top 3-point shooters in Solano history.
The freshman guard tied the school record in back-to-back games against Feather River and Cosumnes River, connecting on seven 3-pointers in each game.
She joins an impressive trio of Marisa VonBromsen, Michelle Lewis and Denisha Lundy – three of the top 3-point shooters in Solano history – to hold the record for 3-pointers made in a game.
Cassandra’s efforts helped Solano go 1-2 at the Solano Showdown over the weekend, falling in the consolation championship game to DeAnza College. The game was the Falcons’ fourth in four days.
Solano lost a heartbreaker to Feather River in the opener on Friday, 67-64, when Feather River knocked down a 3-pointer of its own with just less than 30 seconds left to go in the game.
Cassandra had 23 points in that game. Mariel Dinglasan added 12 points for Solano, which fell into the consolation bracket for a Saturday matchup with Cosumnes River College.
Against the Hawks, Cassandra once again came out firing, going 7-for-11 from the 3-point line and finishing with 21 points, five rebounds and two assists. Solano topped CRC 64-55.
But the Falcons ran out of steam by Sunday, falling to DeAnza 50-41. Miranda Holman and Mariel Dinglasan each had nine points to lead Solano.
Next up: Solano travels to take on Santa Monica in the first round of the College of San Mateo tournament. Tip-off is at 5 p.m.
