The Solano women’s basketball team bounced back from its first home defeat in almost two calendar years to beat Sacramento City College 69-45 in the third place game of the Solano Showdown on Sunday.
Laura Lawson was named to the all-tournament team for the Falcons.
Against Sacramento, Audrie Jones scored 15 points to lead Solano. The sophomore also had six rebounds and two assists. Nae Rankins had a solid all-around game – consistent with how she played all weekend – with 14 points, 7 rebounds, eight steals and four assists. Nikki Andaya and Jenessa Boling each scored 13 points.
Solano controlled the game early and led 39-21 at the half. The Falcons extended to a 20-point advantage in the second half before Sac City chipped away and cut the lead to nine midway through the second half. Solano built its lead back to 21 quickly though and never looked back.
Next: Solano takes a break for finals and the holidays. The next time the team suits up will be at the Mike Gervasoni Memorial Classic at De Anza College in Cupertino. The Falcons take on Ohlone of Fremont at 3 p.m. on Dec. 28.
