Sophomores Nikki Andaya and Audrie Jones led the way as the Solano Community College women’s basketball team finished second place in the Santa Barbara MTXE tournament for the third time in the last four seasons.
The Falcons fell to College of Sequoias 88-62 in the championship game.
Andaya averaged 8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 4 assists over the three games while Jones averages 16.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and shot a red-hot 10 of 17 from the three-point line. Both were named to the all-tournament team.
Solano opened the event with a 72-68 win over the host Vaqueros before knocking off another tough opponent from Southern California, Santa Ana, 59-56.
The Falcons got a well-rounded effort from others as well. Justice Robinson scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against Santa Barbara while Laura Lawson added 10 points and 14 rebounds. Nae Rankins, a freshman, had seven points, five rebounds and six assists against Santa Ana and Brooke Gibbins chipped in 12 points and four rebounds off the bench against Sequoias.
Next: Solano travels to College of Sequoias in Visalia for the Tom Gilcrest Invitational Dec. 4-7. The Falcons open with Riverside at 4 p.m. in the Old Gym.
