The celebration was finally allowed to take place. With the conference title in hand three games earlier, the only thing left to celebrate was a perfect season and it happened when Solano beat Contra Costa 94-78 on Friday night.
Taylor Hamilton scored 24 points and added 10 assists, 6 rebounds and 6 steals for the Falcons, who won their school record 17th consecutive game. The previous mark of 16 games was set by the 1996-97 team, the last Solano team to reach the state final four. The Falcons’ 16 BVC wins is also the most in program history, eclipsing the previous mark of 15 wins by the 2009-10 team.
The win over Contra Costa was a team effort with Nikki Andaya finishing with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists while Denisha Lundy added 16 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Necole White and Audrie Jones each scored 10 points off the bench.
Solano fell behind early in the game for the first time during the conference season, but quickly recovered to take the lead at halftime. The Falcons didn’t let up in the second half, building to a 20-point advantage early and cruising to the victory.
The Falcons will await their NorCal playoff seed, likely opening at home, on Monday.
