Taylor Hamilton and Denisha Lundy became the third set of teammates in Solano history to be named all-state in the same season when Solano’s backcourt duo was named all-state on Monday.
Taylor, who leads Solano in assists, steals, field goals and free throws, was named second team all-state while Denisha, Solano’s leading scorer and top 3-point shooter, was named to the all-state third team.
Taylor and Denisha follow in the footsteps of great Solano duos like Niesha Whitman and Maria Perez-Barris (1997-98) and Maria Perez-Barris and Jamie Maher (1996-97) to be named all-state in the same year.
“What a great honor and well-deserved for Taylor and Denisha,” said Solano coach Matt Borchert. “They have led us in so many ways all season long and I couldn’t think of a better way to recognize them for their hard work.”
Taylor becomes the fourth player in Solano history to be named second team all-state while Denisha is the third player to be named all-state third team.
Ironically, Taylor becomes the second former St. Patrick’s High grad to be named second team all-state. Jamie Maher (1996-97) was second team all-state as a sophomore at Solano. Denisha Lundy, who prepped at Vanden High, is the second former Viking to be named third team all-state. Angela Franklin (07-08) was third team all-state in her only season at Solano after a standout career at Vanden.
