Justice Robinson scored 21 points off the bench to fill a big void for the Solano Community College women’s basketball team as the Falcons earned a 78-61 win over College of Marin on Wednesday night to clinch their 11th Bay Valley Conference title.
Solano was playing without sophomores Taylor Hamilton (illness), Ariel Clay (injury) and Kristina Kountouris (injury) and the effects of missing those key contributors showed early. Marin took the ball hard to the basket on every offensive possession. Solano led just 37-30 at the half before exploding and tightening its defense in the second half to consistently lead by double digits over the final 20 minutes.
“This was a great win for us tonight,” said Solano Coach Matt Borchert. “They displayed a lot of heart and showed how deep we are by people stepping up when we needed them most.”
Denisha Lundy led the way with 23 points and addded four rebounds and four steals. Laura Lawson scored eight points and grabbed nine rebounds. Justice also had nine rebounds.
The conference title was the fifth in the last seven years for Solano.
The Falcons (22-4) improved to 14-0 in BVC games, extending their win streak to 15 games. Solano takes on Merritt College in Oakland on Friday.
