In front of the largest crowd of the season, the Solano Community College women’s basketball team didn’t disappoint in picking up its 20th win of the season. The Falcons extended their win streak and cruised to an 83-64 win over Napa Valley College in Fairfield on Friday.
Necole White helped break open a close game in the first half with back-to-back layups to give Solano a 17-11 lead midway through the first half. Solano built on that momentum and stretched its lead to 19 before Napa went on a run of its own to cut the lead 38-31 at the half.
The Falcons, who played timid in the first half, came out with more confidence in the second half and pulled away. The team led by 20 points consistently through the second half though Napa connected on some shots down the stretch that allowed it to cut into the lead.
White led Solano in scoring for the second time this week with 17 points. She had a solid all-around game with nine rebounds, five assists and four steals. Justice Robinson scored 15 points and chipped in four steals. Both players came off the bench to make their contributions.
Sophomore guard Denisha Lundy had 10 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals while Taylor Hamilton had nine points and seven assists. Audrie Jones made some big baskets for Solano, finishing with seven points.
Solano won 20 games for the first time since the 2009-10 season. This year’s team has now won 12 straight games and improved to 20-4 overall and 11-0 in BVC games.
