The Solano Community College women’s basketball team got an important week off to a good start with a 98-70 win over Laney College in Oakland on Wednesday.
Strong bench play contributed to the win as Necole White led the way with 18 points. She also had four rebounds and two steals. Necole was solid at the free throw line as well, hitting on 12 of 16 from the charity stripe. She was one made free throw away from tying the school record.
Solano led 47-25 at the half and built its lead from there though Laney had a solid offensive second half, scoring 45 points. Denisha Lundy and Taylor Hamilton, Solano’s consistent offensive weapons all season long, each scored 15 points. Justice Robinson added 11 points and Kristina Kountouris 10 off the bench.
Laura Lawson grabbed 11 rebounds for the Falcons, who won their 11th straight game, improved to 19-4 overall and 10-0 in Bay Valley Conference games.
Solano hosts Napa Valley College on Friday. The Storm provided the biggest challenge for the Falcons during the conference season with Solano pulling out a nine-point victory in Napa earlier this month.
