Audrie Jones scored 14 points off the bench and broke the school record for best 3-point percentage in a game as the Solano women’s basketball team beat College of Marin in Kentfield 102-53 on Tuesday night.
Jones, a freshman guard, hit 4 of 5 from beyond the arc for an 80 percent accuracy rate. Ironically, Denisha Lundy, who finished with 22 points, hit 5 of 7 3-pointers and tied the school record of 71.4 percent. But her freshman teammate showed her up on a night when Solano led 19-6 and 30-7 before taking a 61-27 lead at the half.
Solano’s defense was the catalyst as the full-court pressure defense was too much for the Mariners from the opening tip.
Ariel Clay had a stellar all-around game with 20 points, 8 rebounds and three steals while Taylor Hamilton added 14 points, nine assists and five steals. Necole White scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds off the bench.
The Falcons extended their win streak to seven games and improved to 15-4 overall and 6-0 in Bay Valley Conference games. Solano takes on Merritt College on Thursday. The Thunderbirds have just one loss in conference.
