Taylor Hamilton scored 22 points and added 6 steals and 6 rebounds to lead the Solano women’s basketball team to a 101-66 win over Bay Valley Conference rival Laney on Saturday. The Falcons used a full-court press and stellar defensive rebounding to limit the Eagles’ possessions.
Solano built a 57-25 halftime lead and never looked back in improving to 11-4 overall and 2-0 in BVC games. The Falcons played five games in the last eight days and the team didn’t show any signs of exhaustion on Saturday.
“We came out with a lot of intensity and played real well,” said Solano coach Matt Borchert. “Defensively, we were on the same page and we ran offense real well in the half-court. We have to continue to build on this though.”
Denisha Lundy continued to have the hot hand for Solano finishing with 13 points on 3 of 6 3-pointers. The sophomore guard also had four rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocked shots. Kristina Kountouris provided a spark off the bench scoring 13 points and pulling down 6 rebounds. Laura Lawson led the way with 13 rebounds and scored eight points.
Kai Roberts provided solid minutes for the Falcons at the guard spot, finishing with seven points.
Solano has another busy week next week, traveling to Napa on Tuesday and Mendocino on Thursday before hosting Los Medanos on Saturday.
