Thirteen of Solano’s 14 players scored as the Falcons jumped out to another big lead early and cruised to a 94-37 win over Yuba College on Friday night.
Solano won its 10th straight game on Friday, a 94-37 victory over Yuba College.
Solano (18-4, 9-0 BVC) led 14-0 thanks to outstanding defense that caused Yuba to turn the ball over. The Falcons converted those into easy baskets and eventually took a 59-15 lead into halftime.
Denisha Lundy led a balanced scoring attack with 13 points. The sophomore guard added five assists, three rebounds and three steals while shooting 50 percent from the field. Taylor Hamilton added 10 points, 6 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 steals while also shooting 50 percent from the field.
Justice Robinson and Christen Voyles made immediate impacts coming off the bench for the Falcons. Both freshmen scored 10 points with Robinson adding 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Kai Roberts scored a season high 8 points.
Solano had 23 steals in the game with Ariel Clay recording six of her own. Kristina Kountouris led the way with eight rebounds.
The Falcons, ranked No. 17 in the state and No. 8 in Northern California according to the CCCWBCA coaches, have won 10 straight games. The team looks to keep the momentum going against Laney on Wednesday in Oakland before hosting Napa Valley on Friday.

The Solano women’s basketball team once again came out of the gates fast and maintained a double-digit lead for most of the game in beating Contra Costa College 86-62 in Bay Valley Conference action on Wednesday in San Pablo.
Taylor Hamilton led another balanced scoring attack, scoring 18 points. The sophomore point guard added six rebounds, five assists and three steals. Ariel Clay and Nikki Andaya each scored 13 points while Audrie Jones came off the bench to score 11.
Laura Lawson was perhaps the highlight of the night, however. The freshman forward scored 10 points but pulled down a season-high 21 rebounds to help Solano to a 74-47 rebounding advantage on the night. The Falcons’ rebounding total was just six shy of the school record of 80 set by the 94-95 team.
“We played a very good defensive game, which is what we set out to do,” said Solano coach Matt Borchert. “We limited their shot attempts and stuck to the game plan very well. We still have some work to do, but we are getting better every game which is great.”
Solano, which came into the game ranked No. 17 in the state and No. 8 in Northern California according to the CCCWBCA coaches, built a two-game conference lead with the win and extended its win streak to nine games. The Falcons are 17-4 overall and 8-0 in BVC games.
Solano returns to action on Friday against Yuba College. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. The Solano women’s and men’s basketball teams will be recognizing Police, Fire and EMTs during the game.

All five starters scored in double figures to lead the Solano women’s basketball team to a 94-48 win over Merritt College on Thursday night.

Taylor Hamilton led the way with 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists as Solano jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back. The Falcons once again applied tough full-court defensive pressure to force the Thunderbirds into repeated turnovers that the Falcons translated into baskets.
All 14 Solano players scored in the game with Denisha Lundy adding 16 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Ariel Clay chipped in 12 points, Laura Lawson added 11 points and seven rebounds and Nikki Andaya tallied 10 points, six rebounds and five assists. Justice Robinson provided a spark off the bench with five points, six rebounds and three assists.
The Falcons scored more than 90 points for the fourth consecutive game and for the fifth time in six outings. The 48 points is the least amount of points given up by the team this year.
Solano won its eighth game in a row, improved to 16-4 overall and 7-0 in BVC games. The Falcons take on rival Contra Costa College on Wednesday in San Pablo at 5:30 p.m. The team’s next home game is on Friday against Yuba College.

Audrie Jones set the school record for best three-point percentage in a game when she connected on 4 of 5 threes against College of Marin.
Audrie Jones scored 14 points off the bench and broke the school record for best 3-point percentage in a game as the Solano women’s basketball team beat College of Marin in Kentfield 102-53 on Tuesday night.
Jones, a freshman guard, hit 4 of 5 from beyond the arc for an 80 percent accuracy rate. Ironically, Denisha Lundy, who finished with 22 points, hit 5 of 7 3-pointers and tied the school record of 71.4 percent. But her freshman teammate showed her up on a night when Solano led 19-6 and 30-7 before taking a 61-27 lead at the half.
Solano’s defense was the catalyst as the full-court pressure defense was too much for the Mariners from the opening tip.
Ariel Clay had a stellar all-around game with 20 points, 8 rebounds and three steals while Taylor Hamilton added 14 points, nine assists and five steals. Necole White scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds off the bench.
The Falcons extended their win streak to seven games and improved to 15-4 overall and 6-0 in Bay Valley Conference games. Solano takes on Merritt College on Thursday. The Thunderbirds have just one loss in conference.

The Solano Community College women’s basketball team once again came out of the gates quick and finished off another Bay Valley Conference opponent on Saturday night.

Denisha Lundy scored 24 points to lead the Falcons to a 97-55 win over Los Medanos College and help Solano win its sixth straight game and improve to 5-0 in BVC.
The Falcons now stand alone in first place after Mendocino knocked off Contra Costa on Saturday.
Lundy was 10 of 15 from the field and added four assists and two steals. The sophomore guard has now scored in double figures in 10 straight games. Nikki Andaya added 13 points, four rebounds and three steals while Ariel Clay had 12 points and three rebounds. Taylor Hamilton added 11 points, seven assists and five steals.
Justice Robinson came off the bench to score 13 points and added five rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot.
Solano (14-4, 5-0) jumped out to leads of 12-0, 21-2 and 33-11 before taking a 53-29 lead at the half. The Falcons scored the first 11 points of the second half and were never threatened by the Mustangs, who won the 2012 BVC title.
SCC takes on College of Marin in Kentfield on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The Falcons host Merritt College on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. The Falcons will be hosting SCC Student Body/Club Night on Thursday. Fans are encouraged to wear blue to the game to support a “Blue Out” at the gym.

The Solano women’s basketball team jumped out to a 14-0 lead and never looked back in recording a 91-63 win over Mendocino in Ukiah on Thursday.
Denisha Lundy led the scoring with 19 points and added four assists and three steals. She was 4 of 8 from the 3-point line. Taylor Hamilton added 17 points, five rebounds, six assists and three steals while Ariel Clay chipped in 10 points.
Justice Robinson had a solid all-around game with eight points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals.
The Falcons improved to 13-4 overall and 4-0 in BVC games. The team has won five straight, dating back to the third place game of the Gervasoni Memorial tournament in December. Solano hosts Los Medanos College on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
The team is excited to host City Youth Sports Appreciation Night on Saturday. All youth wearing their city youth sports jersey will be admitted to the game for free, be recognized during the game and have the chance to take a group photo with the women’s team after the game.

Four players scored in double figures, but it took a team effort for the Solano women’s basketball team to come from behind to record a 72-63 victory over Napa Valley College in Bay Valley Conference action on Tuesday.
Denisha Lundy had 18 points, four rebounds and five assists to lead the Falcons, who trailed 42-34 at the half. The team came out with intense defense in the second half, allowing them to make the game tight for the remainder of the night.
“I was very impressed with our tenacity and heart against Napa,” said Solano coach Matt Borchert. “Napa is always ready to play Solano and tonight’s game was just another great game in the rivalry.”
Taylor Hamilton added 17 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals for the Falcons while Laura Lawson and Nikki Andaya rounded out the scoring with 10 points each. Lawson had 11 rebounds.
Solano takes on Mendocino in Ukiah on Thursday before returning home to take on Los Medanos on Saturday.
