The Solano women’s basketball team shot a stellar 53 percent from the field en route to a 90-36 win over College of Marin in Kentfield on Wednesday.
Shannon Rankin connected on 9 of 17 field goals, scoring 25 points. She also had five rebounds and three assists. Marissa Dunn scored 15 points, going 7-of-10 from the floor, while grabbing eight rebounds and blocking two shots.
Solano also shot 50 percent from the 3-point line and hit 87 percent from the free throw line.
Alesa Gilmore came off the bench for another outstanding performance. The freshman guard had 14 points, hitting all four of her 3-pointers, while grabbing three rebounds. Ruby Leon, one of the top scorers in the Bay Valley Conference Valley Division, added 13 points, three rebounds, four assists and four steals for the Falcons.
Solano improved to 13-9 and 5-1 in BVC. The team hosts Contra Costa on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
Friday night will be Girl Scout Night at Solano. All Girl Scouts wearing their vests or sashes will gain free admission to the game. Solano’s players will be signing autographs and taking pictures after the game.
