Tara Cooley scored 18 points to lead Solano to a 72-65 win over Skyline in the first meeting between the two schools on Tuesday.
Cooley added 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals while Thaleya Nickson had a breakout game for Solano with 14 points and 7 rebounds.
The game was competitive throughout and the teams headed into the break tied at 33. Solano was able to pull away in the second half, thanks to stellar play by Nickson, who found gaps in the defense and took the ball strong to the hoop.
Kandace Perez provided a solid all-around game, finishing with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists while Presley Neufeld added 11 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists.
Ruby Leon was solid as well. The sophomore guard, who has been splitting time between two guard spots, finished with 5 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.
Cooley, Perez and Nickson shot a combined 59 percent from the floor against Skyline while accounting for 61 percent of the scoring.
Solano hosts San Jose City College on Saturday at 6 p.m.
