Solano nabs fourth straight conference crown

The Solano Community College women’s basketball team wrapped up the program’s fourth straight Bay Valley Conference title with a 71-46 win over Yuba in Marysville on Wednesday night. It was the program’s 10th overall title. The four straight titles matches what Solano teams from 1995-98 accomplished.

Ivy Jones led the way against Yuba with 14 points, four rebounds and four assists. She also had three steals. Destinee Sinegal and Jessica Woods each scored 12 points for the Falcons, who led at the half.

Jessica notched a double-double in pulling down 10 rebounds. Carmen Belser had a solid outing with eight points and 12 rebounds while Tara Cooley had 10 points, seven rebounds and six steals. Shannon Rankin also poured in 10 points and seven rebounds.

Solano improved to 15-9 overall and 10-0 in conference. The Falcons will look to cap off an unbeaten conference season on Friday when it hosts Los Medanos College on Sophomore Night. The game will also be a fundraiser for Coaches vs. Cancer and fans are encouraged to wear sneakers to the game to show their support for the American Cancer Society and cancer research.

The game starts at 5:30 p.m. Make sure to arrive early so you don’t miss out on the pre-game festivities!
