Tara Cooley hit four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points to lead the Solano women’s basketball team to a 70-64 win over Los Medanos on Wednesday night. The win moved the Falcons to the top of the Bay Valley Conference standings at 5-0.
Ivy Jones also scored 14 points and added 6 assists, 4 rebounds and 4 steals. She also hit two 3-pointers. Solano drilled 10 threes as a team.
The Falcons and Mustangs played back-and-forth basketball through the opening minutes of the game. Solano took control midway through the first half and never looked back. They built a 15-point advantage in the second half before Los Medanos cut the lead to four on a 3-pointer with just more than 2 minutes remaining.
Solano remained consistent down the stretch though and was able to hold on for the road victory.
Carmen Belser added 11 points for the Falcons, who improved to 10-9 overall. Coach Matt Borchert is just two wins shy of becoming the all-time winningest coach in Solano women’s basketball history.
The Falcons next take the court against College of Marin on Jan. 26 at 5:30 p.m.
