Every player scored as the Solano women’s basketball team won its second consecutive game, 74-25 over Yuba on Friday. The Falcons improved to 7-9 overall and 2-0 in Bay Valley Conference games.
Sophomore Carmen Belser took advantage of the huge height advantage she possessed over the 49ers, scoring 16 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. She also blocked two shots.
Destinee Sinegal added 14 points. seven rebounds and four steals for Solano, which raced out to a 13-0 lead before Yuba got on the scoreboard five minutes into the game. Ivy Jones had 13 points and six assists for the Falcons while Shannon Rankin chipped in eight points and eight rebounds.
Solano was relentless on defense – both in the full court press and half court. The Falcons forced turnovers and grabbed the first rebound after a Yuba shot went up.
“I am extremely happy with the way we played tonight,” said Solano coach Matt Borchert. “Our defense led to some great baskets on offense and everyone was able to contribute to this win. We never let up and that’s the type of effort it’s going to take for us to win conference.”
Solano returns to the court on January 12 to take on Merritt College in Oakland for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
