Freshman Ivy Jones had 17 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals to lead the Solano College women’s basketball team to a 97-38 win over Yuba College in Marysville on Tuesday night.
The win kept Solano (21-5, 13-1) in a tie for first place with Laney College with two games left in the regular season.
All 11 players scored in the game and six players scored in double figures for the Falcons. Crystal Lee had 16 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 6 steals while Soroya Blunt added 13 points and 5 rebounds.
Goli Tavassoli added 11 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists while Bree Domingo had 11 points, 7 assists and 3 steals. Allie Davison chipped in 10 points.
“We played really well tonight,” said Solano coach Matt Borchert. “We are starting to peak at the right time and play good team ball for 40 minutes. It’s important though that we carry this over to the postseason.”
Solano jumped out to a huge halftime lead, 58-16, after shooting 67 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes. Solano connected on 54 percent of its field goals for the game.
Carmen Belser added 7 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and a blocked shot. The Falcons had 29 assists and 29 steals.
Solano hosts College of Marin on Feb. 17 at 5:30 p.m. for Sophomore Night. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to the game so as to not miss any of the exciting pre-game festivities!
