Solano set a new school record for assists in a game and used stifling half-court defense to post a 96-34 win over Napa Valley College on Friday night in Bay Valley Conference action.
The Falcons dished out 32 assists, breaking the old record of 31 set by the 1998-99 squad. Solano, which also picked up its 20th win of the season, shot a scorching 48 percent from the field. The Falcons slowed the pace of the game in the last few minutes, allowing time to run off the clock as the victory was already in hand.
It was the 13th 20-win season in program history.
“We executed really well tonight on both ends of the floor,” said Solano coach Matt Borchert. “We got everyone involved and we shot the ball really well.”
Ivy Jones, Ashley Daniels, Bree Domingo and Destinee Sinegal each scored 14 points while Allie Davison added 13 and Jessica Woods poured in 10. All 10 players who dressed scored in the game.
Ashley added seven rebounds and four steals while Ivy had seven assists and five steals. Bree had six assists and three steals.
Solano returns to action next Tuesday when it travels to Marysville to take on Yuba College. Because of the President’s Holiday, the game was moved to Tuesday. Tip-off remains at 5:30 p.m.
