Falcons win ninth straight contest

The Solano women’s basketball team resumed Bay Valley Conference play on Wednesday, beating Mendocino College 76-40 in Ukiah.

Veronica Morris led the Falcons (11-4, 3-0) with 15 points and added four assists while Crystal Lee had 13 points and Bree Domingo tallied 11. Crystal also had nine rebounds.

Freshmen Ivy Jones (8 rebounds, 4 assists) and Destinee Sinegal (8 points, 6 steals) each made solid contributions.

The Falcons, who have won nine straight games, improved to 11-4 overall and 3-0 in BVC. Solano shot 46 percent from the field against Mendocino.

“We started off really slow and allowed Mendocino to get some really easy baskets,” said Coach Matt Borchert. “If we hadn’t shot the ball so well, we would’ve been in deep trouble.”

Solano came around in the second half though, tightened its defense and cruised to the victory. It was the 17th straight BVC victory for the Falcons, who won 14 straight conference games last year to end the regular season.

The Falcons return home to take on Merritt on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
