Veronica Morris continued to have the hot hand in leading the Solano College women’s basketball team to a 66-56 win over Laney of Oakland in Falcons’ Bay Valley Conference opener on Friday night.
Veronica scored 18 points and added 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in the win. The sophomore guard has scored in double figures in all but two games this season and is the Falcons’ leading scorer at 12.5 points per game.
The Falcons have won four straight games. SCC led by as many as 20 points in the second half.
“I was really pleased with the effort tonight,” said Solano coach Matt Borchert. “The girls came out and attacked on both sides of the ball and played hard.”
Ashley Daniels had an outstanding game as well. The sophomore guard had 12 points and five rebounds and shot 6 of 9 from the field.
Freshman Destinee Sinegal added 12 points for Solano, which improved to 6-4 overall and 1-0 in BVC games. The Falcons take on Contra Costa on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
