Sinegal helps Solano top Diablo Valley

Solano freshman guard Destinee Sinegal looks for an open teammate in the offense during Friday night's game against Diablo Valley College.

Destinee Sinegal scored 14 points to become the first freshman to lead the Falcons in scoring this season as the Solano women’s basketball team beat Diablo Valley 73-57 in the first round of the Solano Showdown on Friday.

Sinegal and sophomore Goli Tavassoli broke the game open in the first half after connecting on back-to-back 3-pointers. Ashley Daniels added 13 points, four steals and two assists for Solano, which advances to Satruday’s semifinals against Siskiyous.

Veronica Morris had 10 points for Solano while Soroya Blunt, Allie Davison, Jessica Woods and Crystal Lee each had five rebounds. The Falcons improve to 3-4.
